Story Time

One story, read aloud — with one gentle question per page.

A tablet screen with a picture of a fox by a river on the left, the story text on the right with one sentence highlighted, and three answer cards below the question.

What Story Time is

Story Time is ALPINE AI's first story app — version one, complete, and still installed on the family tablet beside the newer products. One illustrated story, "Luna by the River", told in three parts: each part is read aloud in the same calm voice as every ALPINE app, the sentence being spoken lights up as it is read, and one question follows — on the same page, with the story still in view.

Story Time earned its place by what it taught. Its first family trial showed that a question on a separate page tests memory, not language — so the question moved onto the story page, and a wrong answer now lights up the exact sentence that holds the answer. That lesson — questions belong inside the story — became the founding idea of Read and Build.

How a page works

  • Tap Play
  • Listen and follow the lit sentence
  • One question appears below the story
  • A quiet look-again if it doesn't match
  • Well Done ⭐
  • Next page
A story page: a picture of Luna the fox by the river on the left, the story text and a Play button on the right.
A story page — picture, text, one Play button. The app reads it aloud, lighting up each sentence as it is spoken.
The same page after the reading: the passage still pinned at the top, one question below it, and three answer cards.
The question lives on the story page — the passage never leaves the screen.
The page after a wrong answer: the tapped card outlined in muted red, the words Look again, and the answer sentence highlighted in the passage.
A wrong tap: a quiet "Look again", and the sentence that holds the answer lights up in the story. Nothing buzzes; nothing says wrong.
The page after the correct answer: the correct card outlined in green with the words Well Done and a star, and a Next button.
The win: a green card, one star, a quiet Well Done — and the miss leaves no trace.
The end screen: the words The End with a fox emoji and Well Done with a star, and a Stories button back to the menu.
The End — the same quiet close every time; the story card on the menu gains a check mark.

What it taught

Questions belong inside the story

The founding lesson: with the passage gone, a question tests memory; with the passage in view, it practices language. The question never leaves the story page.

The answer is always findable

A wrong tap lights up the exact sentence that holds the answer. The learner does not have to remember — she has to read.

Misses leave no trace

The moment the right card is tapped, every mark of the miss disappears. No penalty, no score, no history on her screen.

One voice, one pace

The same pinned voice as every ALPINE app, at a calm fixed rate, with the spoken sentence highlighted as it is read.

Finished, not abandoned

Version one is complete and still on the tablet. Its successor, Read and Build, carries its lessons forward — Story Time remains hers to open any time.
